What is Oral Microbiome Mapping Test?

The oral microbiome is identified as one of the major microbial ecosystems in the human body and has the potential to impact our health in various ways.
This clinical tool assesses the oral microbiome – a key ecosystem in the gut-brain connection, and for cardiovascular and female reproductive health. Using quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR), Oral microbiome mapping provides an accurate, reliable, and quantifiable measurement of microbiota abundance in the oral cavity.

The microbiota of the oral cavity exists as a complex biofilm that remains stable. However, when dysbiosis or imbalance happen in form of infection, injury, dietary changes, and risk-associated factors (e.g., smoking) may disrupt the biofilm, where colonization and invasion of pathogens occurs. Disruption of the biofilm community to a pathogenic profile, stimulate an immune response, chronic inflammation and ultimately, the development of local and systemic disease, such as gingivitis, periodontitis, oral cancer, cardiovascular disease and neurodegeneration, GI issues like GI inflammation, Anxiety & Depression. However, much of this damage is reversible if pathogenic communities are reduced, and homeostasis is restored.

How to use?

The sample is taken in two steps:

1. Attached a stick with a cotton end that is used to wipe the cheek lining in a motion for two minutes.
2. Attached a Tube (a plastic tube) for saliva sample that supposed to be filled with saliva to the line shown on the tube.

How does the test work?
